Pray for kidnapped GFA Missionary in Assam, India

ASSAM, INDIA

Dear Friend in Christ,

We are asking you to pray fervently for Gospel for Asia missionary Haresh Kujur, who was kidnapped by anti-Christian extremists Saturday evening. The extremists took the pastor from the GFA-related church in Assam, India, where he serves as pastor.

Haresh was leading a youth meeting when the kidnapping occurred. We have few details about the kidnapping, and are unsure where the militants have taken him.

Please pray for this missionary and his family. Also pray for the kidnappers, that they would come to know the Lord.

Yours for the unreached,

K.P. Yohannan Founder & President

Pray for AFGHANISTAN & ALGERIA

AFGHANISTAN & ALGERIA Islamic Scholars Call for Crackdown on Christians – VOM Sources
Christians came under fire in Algeria and Afghanistan in recent weeks by Islamic scholars who have called for government crackdowns on Christian activity in the two countries. In Afghanistan, members of the Afghanistan Islamic Council warned President Karzai not to allow foreign missions into the country, especially to the impoverished areas. The council claimed that missionaries in Kabul and in the provinces were forcibly converting Muslims, enticing them by giving them Bibles and promising to send them abroad. The Islamic scholars warned of serious consequence if the government did not stop Christians from preaching and evangelizing. In Algeria, the head of the Algerian Associations of Muslim Scholars, Sheik Abdul Al-Shayban, called on all officials to counter Christian missionary campaigns, claiming they had “reached the point of aggressions against Algerians.” Ask God to stop the attempts of those who seek to hinder His work in Afghanistan and Algeria. Pray that His servants in these countries will be emboldened to carry on their service to Christ wherever Gods leads them.

Persecution Update 2007-10-16

As we prepare this week to move into our new church building, I am reminded of how thankful I am that we live in a country where we are free to worship God without fear of persecution by the government.

Some recent stories which I have read have really driven this home to me. Please pray with me for our brethren in Myanmar (Burma), India, Turkey, China and throughout Africa as they face intense persecution from their governments and even family for their beliefs. Pray that God will give them the strength and courage to stand for what they believe even to the point of losing everything they have, including their lives. Pray that we, too, will have the courage to proclaim our belief in Christ and stand firm when faced with possible persecution.
